Area Information

Fairview, Utah was founded in 1859. The town’s high elevation provided a fair enough view of the valley to inspire the choice of name in 1864. The first settlers from Mt. Pleasant had named the site North Bend, which was later renamed and is known today as Fairview. The city is located in Sanpete County, about 45 miles south of Provo along historic Highway 89.
The City of Fairview became the center of a wealthy agricultural district which in 1900 supported four general stores, one furniture store, one harness shop, two hotels, one butcher shop, a planning mill, half a dozen steam sawmills, situated at different points in the mountains, good public schools and a great number of comfortable homes.
The summers are beautiful and picturesque. The winter months bring their own beauty with deer and elk in abundance; Bald Eagles are frequent visitors to the area. The wildlife and scenic beauty is in abundance all year-round.
Fairview Canyon is the gateway to the famous "Skyline Drive", a 75 mile scenic 4X4 mountain road that offers hundreds of miles of outdoor recreational opportunities. A great place to ATV, Mountain Bike, Fish, Hunt, Horseback Ride, Camp, and Snowmobile, and much more!
The Huntington-Eccles Scenic Byway begins in Fairview, Utah. The drive heads east up the canyon on Highway 31 through the Manti La-Sal National Forest.
